FPA Submits Comments in Response to the U.S. FDA’s Request for Information Concerning the Safety of Butylated Hydroxytoluene in Food and Food Contact Applications

The Flexible Packaging Association (FPA) appreciates the opportunity to submit comments in response to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration's (FDA) Request for Information (RFI) concerning the safety of butylated hydroxytoluene (BHT) in food and food contact applications. FPA is the voice of U.S. manufacturers of flexible packaging and their suppliers. The association's mission is connecting, advancing, and leading the flexible packaging industry. Flexible packaging is produced from paper, plastic, film, aluminum foil, or any combination of those materials, and includes bags, pouches, labels, liners, wraps, rollstock, and other flexible products. Flexible packaging is the fastest-growing and second-largest segment of the U.S. packaging industry, representing $51.5 billion in annual sales and approximately 98,000 flexible packaging manufacturing employees in the United States.
